Fourth of July is right around the corner and you better believe the fashionistas will be out in full force! This is one of my favorite summer weekends to dress for because I get to combine summer styles in a relaxed way and my color palette is already set – red, white and blue!
I was visiting H&M a few weeks ago and found the PERFECT look for my holiday weekend. We’ll be celebrating the 4th on the lake with friends and then will head back to clean up for a BBQ. And let me tell you, this isn’t your ordinary BBQ… everyone comes ready to impress (and of course to have a great time)! So, the pressure is on.
Luckily, I found the maxi dress below and the perfect accessories all in one stop. Check out how I styled this H&M look for under $100. I still have time to make a few adjustments, so let me know what you think!
This maxi ($25) is a cotton blend, so it gets a 10 on the comfort scale. It also has two slits up the sides, which serve two purposes in my book, 1. An added breeze on a hot summer day and 2. The perfect peek-a-boo to your summer sandals. I originally styled these with a simple t-strap sandal from Old Navy, but think I’ll rock my nude wedges to the BBQ.
I LOVED the back detail on this dress. It has a dainty button at the top to secure the straps and the rest is left open! It adds such a nice touch. Again, here is that noteworthy accent I always tell you guys to look out for when buying “basic” pieces.
Because it’s summer, I had to get the braided bamboo clutch ($13). I couldn’t go without one any longer. It’s the perfect size to fit my keys, a pack of gum and a few makeup (de-shine) essentials for the weekend. I’m sure I’ll rock it with a number of other summer looks to, so it was a great buy!
I kept the accessories simple since the BBQ is outside. I have a strange thing about wearing big, bulky jewelry (especially metal pieces) in the summer when it’s hot out. Dainty is the name of my game! If you look closely on this layered necklace ($10), you’ll see two small blue gemstones that add just the right amount of shine.
And last but not least, the complimentary gold/blue bracelets ($5). Again, simple but adds just the right touch. Oh and I almost forgot about the stunner shades. These were my bargain of the day you guys – $8 from Old Navy! I ruined my H&M from head-to-toe streak, but it’s totally worth it. They come with me everywhere.
Well, there you have it… There’s my 4th of July look. What do you think? Is there anything you would change? I’m looking forward to an eventful weekend and looking the part, of course. If you want to create this look for yourself, head to your nearest outlet center. It’s all still there and is calling your name!
Happy shopping everyone and have a safe holiday weekend. 🙂
