Spring is right around the corner, in fact many of us have already been experiencing 70+ degree weekends. I couldn’t be happier!
With that said, it’s time to start thinking about your Winter > Spring wardrobe transition. I understand this is difficult given Mother Nature’s rollercoaster of emotions lately, so here are a few tips.
You’ll need a mix of trendy pieces that blend function and fashion to get you through this tough time. Don’t worry, we’re all here to support you!
Tip No. 1 – Start replacing your dark colors with brighter hues
Karen Millen | Pink Sleeveless Minidress
This is the simplest of my suggestions. Your winter wardrobe (if anything like my own) is full of darker dreary color. Start looking out for spring’s top colors – Yellow and Pink (frilly, yes, but so in style). These are sure to cure the winter time blues! #guiltyascharged
This beautiful blush Karen Millen dress is sure to inspire a change!
Tip No. 2 – Change up the layers
J.Crew Factory | Tipped Shell
By now, we should have all mastered the layered, long sleeves cardigan look. Try switching up your layers in the next few weeks. Keep your base look, but top it off with a fresh spring scarf, a lighter jacket or a vest like this one from J.Crew Factory (love that colorful detail). Be ready to shed the layers and take full advantage of the random, super warm days.
Tip No. 3 – Pack up the winter coats
J.Crew Factory | Crosshatch Lined Blazer
For those of you that live in the far north, I recommend you hold onto yours for a bit longer. But, for those already feeling the warmth of spring, it’s time to transition to lighter jackets and blazers. Ditch the days of drowning your look in a trench coat and go for a linen option like this J.Crew Factory blazer instead.
Tip No. 4 – Pick your trends carefully
The beginning of a new season can be a little overwhelming with all of your favorite retailers stocking the shelves with the season’s hottest styles, colors and silhouettes. I suggest you select your must-haves with care. Don’t fall victim and try to make it ALL work. Instead, invest in a few trendy pieces and blend them into your wardrobe. It’s important to stay relevant, but not go overboard! See last week’s 2017 Fashion Preview for some insider info.
Tip No. 5 – Let the accessories do the work
J.Crew Factory | Rainbow Party Necklace
The winter to spring transition is a great opportunity to mix up your accessories. Use the opportunity to bring more color into your jewels, change out your everyday tote or even go lighter and brighter with the season’s hottest nail colors. Accessories are an inexpensive way to make a statement without having to overhaul your entire closet. J.Crew Factory always has a great selection of bright colored accessories.
It’s by far one of my favorite shopping seasons of the year and time to breath a little life into your winter wardrobe. Keep these 5 tips in mind next time you visit Tanger and you’ll be amazed at how simple the transition can be.
